On Thursday 14th February Glastonbury Goddess Temple will be joining in with ‘One Billion Rising across the world’ – a worldwide day of action and protest against rape and violence against women and girls and a celebration of femininity through dance.
We are appalled that one in three women on this earth will be raped or beaten at some time in their lives – that is one billion women. Somebody’s mother, wife, sister or baby daughter. This is a crime on a global scale.
In the UK, recent statistics show that One in five women has been the victim of a sexual offence and in the past year 69,000 women report being raped in the past year. Barely 1% of those offences result in the perpetrator being convicted.
One Billion Rising women and men are rising up on this day. One Billion Women are dancing today to say Enough is Enough.
Women’s bodies give birth, nurture babies and, with our love, care for the world.
Women’s bodies are not for violating. Women’s bodies are not for raping.
Glastonbury Goddess Temple invites women, and the men who care for them, to join them in an all day programme of dance to celebrate the feminine and to stand in solidarity with women and girls across the world in saying NO to violence against women.
